Which eBay fee scenario applies to you?
The worksheet starts with your confirmed total seller fee, rather than guessing your plan or category. A blank fee cannot produce an estimate. If your account qualifies, you can select the eligible non-Pro domestic scenario.
- Check your Australian registration address, current Pro status and eBay's sales calculation for the preceding 12 full calendar months.
- The A$25,000 threshold is an eligibility rule, not a fee-free slice of sales for a Pro account. Calling yourself a private seller does not override your actual account terms.
- Check the current listing preview for category, overseas delivery, performance surcharges and paid extras. Use the confirmed-fee option if the narrow preset does not fit.
Work out the proceeds
Example: an eligible domestic sale
Assume a A$100 item, A$10 shipping collected, A$12 actual postage, A$40 stock cost and A$2 packaging. There is no additional buyer tax in this example. If the no-transaction-fee scenario genuinely applies, A$110.00 remains before those costs and A$56.00 after them.
If instead your confirmed combined seller fee is A$15.00, enter that amount: the same example leaves A$41.00. A$15.00 is an illustrative input, not an eBay rate. Both examples exclude overheads, labour, returns and your own tax obligations.
Common eBay fee questions
Does free selling mean the payout equals the sale price?
No. Postage, upgrades and other costs can still apply. The eligible selling experience generally requires eBay labels for items sent to buyers. Check what your account requires before entering delivery costs.
Where do Pro sellers get the fee?
Use your plan's fee schedule and the listing or transaction details. Fees can vary with category and selling circumstances. Enter the combined seller charge, then add only costs not already included. This calculator does not determine account eligibility.
Is the final number profit?
It is the amount left after the costs you entered. It is not a forecast of selling price, an accounting profit figure or a guarantee of when the item will sell.
What the estimate includes
Item price plus buyer-paid shipping forms gross seller proceeds. Additional buyer tax remitted by the platform is excluded from seller proceeds, but included in payment-fee bases where the selected schedule requires it. Do not enter tax twice if it is already included in your price.
We show seller fees, proceeds after fees, and the amount left after your entered postage, acquisition and other costs. That last amount is not accounting profit: overheads, labour, returns and your own tax obligations are not automatically calculated. Add charges only once. A zero input means that cost is excluded.
These are single-sale scenarios, not every marketplace category or account. Confirm the current listing preview before pricing; promotions, monthly subscriptions, international fees and account-specific terms can change the result. Fees are rounded to cents per component; a platform statement may round differently.
